In a highly anticipated SEC matchup in Death Valley, No. 14 LSU is set to face off against No. 11 Alabama in a game that has captured national attention. Adding to the excitement of the game, it has been reported that a live tiger will be on the field for the first time in almost a decade. The last live tiger to be on the field was in 2015 when beloved mascot Mike VI passed away in 2016. The current mascot, Mike VII, will not be the tiger on the sideline as he lives in an enclosure across from the stadium and has never attended a game at Tiger Stadium.

The decision to bring a live tiger back to the sideline may have been influenced by Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry’s wish to see the mascot back on the field. Reports indicate that Landry set up an unofficial committee to discuss bringing a live tiger to the stadium, with Surgeon General Ralph Abraham, a veterinarian, playing a key role in making it happen. State Senator Bill Wheat, also a veterinarian, provided assistance in facilitating the return of a live tiger to the LSU sidelines. However, details on where the tiger attending the game is from and how it will be taken care of by LSU are currently unclear.

The return of a live tiger to the field will undoubtedly add to the excitement and tradition of LSU football games, as the mascot serves as a symbol of the university’s spirit and pride. The tiger’s presence is sure to create a memorable and unique experience for fans in attendance at the game, as they cheer on their team against a tough opponent in Alabama. With both teams ranked in the top 15, the outcome of this SEC showdown could have significant implications for their respective seasons and playoff hopes.

As the game between LSU and Alabama approaches, all eyes will be on Death Valley as fans eagerly await the sight of the live tiger on the field. With the energy and excitement surrounding the return of the mascot, the game is sure to be a memorable and historic event for both teams and their respective fan bases.
