The Dubai tourism board is working towards making the city one of the best cities to live in and visit by 2033, with a focus on dispelling misconceptions about the destination. While Dubai is known for its extravagant shopping, luxury hotels, and adrenaline-pumping activities, the authorities want to emphasize that not every trip to Dubai has to come with a hefty price tag. They are aiming to boost visitor numbers through a new tourism campaign that showcases Dubai as a year-round holiday destination, accessible to all types of travelers. The city welcomed 13.29 million global visitors in the first nine months of the year, a seven percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

Hoor Al Khaja, senior vice president of international operations at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, is leading the effort to change perceptions about Dubai. She aims to educate the public and the travel industry about the affordability of Dubai as a tourist destination. While Dubai is home to many luxury, iconic properties, there are also plenty of affordable accommodation options available. Al Khaja emphasizes that a three-star hotel in Dubai can compete with any four or five-star hotel globally, offering visitors value for money. The goal is to make Dubai accessible to all types of travelers, not just those with big budgets.

One common misconception about Dubai is that it is not a safe place for tourists to visit. Al Khaja disputes this belief, stating that Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. She attributes concerns about safety to limited knowledge of the geography of the region, but reassures visitors that once they arrive in Dubai, they will realize that safety is not a factor to worry about. The tourism board is working to address these concerns and promote Dubai as a safe and welcoming destination for travelers from around the world.

In addition to changing perceptions about safety and affordability, Dubai’s tourism authorities also want to promote the city as a year-round holiday spot. While the winter months are traditionally popular for tourism, the authorities want to encourage visitors to consider visiting Dubai in the summer as well. There are plenty of indoor activities to enjoy, such as Ski Dubai, Chinatown in Dubai Mall, the Museum of the Future, and performances at Dubai Opera. Al Khaja highlights the availability of affordable luxury during the summer months, with amazing resorts and facilities to explore, making Dubai a desirable destination throughout the year.

The tourism board’s efforts to dispel misconceptions about Dubai and promote the city as a welcoming and accessible destination are part of a larger strategy to increase visitor numbers and establish Dubai as one of the best cities in the world to live in and visit by 2033. By showcasing the affordability, safety, and year-round appeal of Dubai, the authorities hope to attract a diverse range of travelers and further solidify Dubai’s position as a top global destination. With a focus on education and awareness, Dubai aims to debunk myths about the city and highlight the many attractions and experiences that make it a unique and exciting place to visit.
