In early June, nine suspected members of the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang were filmed engaging in alarming behavior at an Aurora, Colorado apartment complex. This incident, recorded on doorbell cameras, depicted the group brandishing firearms and aggressively knocking on an apartment door. Police Chief Todd Chamberlain characterized the scene as “very reminiscent” of earlier violence linked to the Venezuelan gang in the area. Notably, the targeted residents were also Venezuelan immigrants, having moved in just two days prior to the encounter. Their decision not to answer the door potentially saved them from a dangerous situation, highlighting the severity of gang-related violence in the neighborhood.
Following the alarming incident, police undertook an investigation to apprehend the suspects captured on video. Within days, law enforcement successfully arrested two individuals linked to the gang, while detaining four additional suspects known for their prior criminal activities.
