Mazda Issues Recall for 14,000 Vehicles in Canada Due to Crash Hazard

Mazda has announced a recall affecting thousands of vehicles in Canada due to a fuel gauge issue that poses a potential crash risk. The affected models include the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and the 2024 and 2025 versions of the Mazda CX-90. According to a recall notice issued by Transport Canada, approximately 14,350 SUVs are being called back to address this problem.

The core issue relates to an inaccurate fuel level display on the instrument cluster. This malfunction can mislead drivers about their actual fuel status, raising the risk of the vehicle running out of fuel unexpectedly. Such a scenario could lead to stalling and a sudden loss of engine power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash, as identified by Transport Canada.

To remedy the situation, Mazda plans to notify vehicle owners through mail, prompting them to take their cars to an authorized dealer for a software update to the body control module. In the interim, until the required repairs are completed, the company recommends that owners should refuel their vehicles before the fuel gauge indicates a quarter tank remains.

For those who are concerned about whether their vehicle is affected by the recall, Mazda has made resources available for inquiries. Customers can obtain more information by calling 1-800-263-4680 or by checking online to confirm the recall details for their particular vehicle. This proactive communication underscores Mazda’s commitment to safety and customer care.

As the issue unfolds, it reflects the importance of vehicle manufacturers actively monitoring and ensuring the safety standards of their products. The recall not only aims to rectify the immediate problem but also serves as a reminder of the potential risks that faulty equipment can pose to drivers and passengers alike.

In summary, the recall is a significant step towards addressing safety concerns related to fuel gauge inaccuracies in several Mazda SUV models, enhancing road safety for all.
