In this week’s TWAB, Bungie has acknowledged the difficulty Destiny 2 players face when trying to farm exotic class items, which are essential for creating new and interesting builds. These items have a large number of combinations, making it extremely challenging to obtain the desired perks. As a response to fan complaints, Bungie has announced several changes to address this issue.
One of the changes includes introducing a new bounty for Dual Destiny that will reward players with an additional class item per week, per character. Additionally, the drop rates for the Overthrow event in the Pale Heart will be increased, with more playtime increasing the chances of obtaining these items. However, the drop rates for destination chest farming are being decreased to discourage macro farming and encourage players to participate in the Overthrow event.
Despite these changes, some players feel that Bungie’s efforts may not go far enough to alleviate the difficulty of farming exotic class items. The addition of only one extra class item per week from Dual Destiny may not be sufficient, especially considering that players were previously able to glitch the dungeon for double drops. The chest nerf, while meant to prevent macro farming, also hinders legitimate farming methods that produced at least some results.
It is unlikely that the Overthrow event will provide enough drops to make farming feel rewarding, especially considering the vast number of combinations players need to sift through to find the desired perks. Bungie acknowledges that this is just a “first step” in addressing the issue and plans to explore ways for players to obtain these items outside of the Pale Heart. However, players are still frustrated by the excessive difficulty of obtaining these items compared to other exotics in the game.
The problem with farming exotic class items has been ongoing since the launch of Dual Destiny two months ago, and players are disappointed that it may take even more time for significant improvements to be implemented. Many players believe that Bungie is being too stingy with the drop rates and are calling for more drastic changes to make farming these items more feasible. With plenty of other farming opportunities in the game, players feel that investing 20-50 hours into obtaining a single roll of an exotic class item is excessive.
