A 66-year-old woman was critically injured after being struck by her own vehicle outside Casey Hospital in Melbourne’s south-east. The incident occurred as the woman was dropping off her husband at the hospital’s emergency department. A man allegedly jumped into their car and attempted to drive away, causing the woman to intervene. In the process, she was hit by the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was subsequently transferred to The Alfred hospital for further treatment.

Following the incident, police arrested a 25-year-old man at Pioneer Bay on the Bass Coast. The man, who is of no fixed address, is currently assisting police with their enquiries as the investigation remains ongoing. Officers were able to recover the couple’s brown Ford Territory nearby. Casey Hospital is cooperating with authorities in their investigation of the incident and police are urging any witnesses or individuals with footage to come forward.

The woman was in a serious but stable condition as of Wednesday evening, following the traumatic event. Paramedics initially transferred her from Casey Hospital to The Alfred for further medical care. The incident has sparked concern and alarm among the community, with many expressing shock at the events that unfolded outside the hospital. The man’s actions in allegedly taking the couple’s vehicle and causing harm to the woman have raised questions about security and safety measures around medical facilities.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have left many questioning how such a traumatic event could occur, particularly in a location meant for healing and care. The arrest of the 25-year-old man has provided some relief, but the ongoing investigation will likely shed more light on the motivations and factors involved in the incident. The impact of the incident on the woman, her family, and the hospital community is significant, highlighting the need for vigilance and awareness of potential risks in public spaces.

Authorities are seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation, emphasizing the importance of eyewitness accounts and any available footage of the incident. The cooperation of Casey Hospital and law enforcement agencies underscores the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of individuals in and around medical facilities. The arrest of the suspect and recovery of the couple’s vehicle mark important developments in the case, though the full extent of the impact on the victim and her loved ones remains to be seen. As the investigation continues, more details may emerge regarding the events leading up to the incident and the circumstances that unfolded outside Casey Hospital.
