The Lynnwood City Council in Washington state recently appointed a new councilor, Jessica Roberts, to fill a vacant seat. However, controversy arose when it was discovered that Roberts had an account on the subscription-based platform OnlyFans, where creators share explicit content. The account bio identified Roberts as a “bisexual transwoman” and included graphic details about her body parts. Following complaints from residents who recognized Roberts from the OnlyFans page, the council is now considering rescinding her appointment, even though the account has been taken down.

City Councilor Derica Escamilla raised questions about whether council members were allowed to have an OnlyFans account, indicating concern about the appropriateness of Roberts’ views and activities while serving the public. Another council member, Patrick Decker, expressed that he was unaware of Roberts’ views and activities and did not feel they were in line with the gravity and seriousness of serving as a city council member. Lynnwood city officials have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.

A Facebook post by city officials announced Roberts’ appointment earlier in the week, with plans for her to take her Oath of Office and be seated immediately during a work session meeting on March 17, 2025. The post also mentioned that a formal announcement with a biography and quote from Roberts would be provided the following week. However, the situation may change as the council is set to hold a special meeting on Thursday to evaluate Roberts’ qualifications for the position and potentially rescind her appointment.

During the scheduled meeting, council members will assess Roberts’ fitness for serving in an elected position. An agenda posted on the city’s website indicates that after the evaluation, council members will discuss whether to rescind the appointment or consider the next steps in the process. The controversy surrounding Roberts’ OnlyFans account has sparked debate among council members and residents about the criteria for holding public office and the expectations for the conduct of elected officials. The outcome of the meeting will likely have significant implications for Roberts’ future as a member of the Lynnwood City Council.
