In a recent interview with journalist Chris Van Vliet, actor and former WWE star Dave Bautista revealed that he has lost 75 pounds in recent months. He explained that he had gained weight quickly for a specific role in the film “Knock at the Cabin” which left him feeling uncomfortably large. Bautista decided to trim down after filming was complete, realizing that he felt better and looked better on camera as a result. He also mentioned that fans have expressed concerns about his weight loss due to his past larger size.
While Bautista did not specify the exact workouts he has been doing to lose weight, he mentioned that he is training hard and restricting his calorie intake. He estimated that he consumes around 2500 calories a day and practices intermittent fasting by not eating for several hours before bed. This has allowed him to maintain a short eating window during the day. Despite these changes in his diet and exercise routine, Bautista reassured fans that he is not starving himself and is not experiencing any negative side effects from his weight loss efforts.
Regarding his diet, Bautista shared that he follows a mostly plant-based eating plan with some fish included a few times a week. His diet evolved over the years due to allergies and personal choices, such as cutting out dairy, red meat, pork, and eventually poultry. Bautista expressed his intention to eventually transition to a vegan diet but currently enjoys fish and eggs. He also mentioned his preference for specific meals, such as almond butter and banana or a vegan, gluten-free grilled cheese, and sushi. Additionally, he takes various health supplements and ensures that he eats every four hours while working on set.
In terms of workouts, Bautista explained that he used to focus on bodybuilding during his WWE days but shifted towards more cardio workouts towards the end of his career. He highlighted fight training as the most grueling workout he has ever done, describing it as a combination of high-intensity interval training and facing punches. Bautista’s favorite exercise is squats, a choice he made to avoid having skinny legs. He also incorporates weight training and engages in activities like boxing, cycling, boxing, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu to stay active. Bautista stated that boxing is his preferred form of cardio workout, emphasizing its effectiveness.
