In the finale of “The Pitt,” Dr. Robby and the rest of the day shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital concluded their cases with the support of their coworkers, Dana and Abbot. The future of characters like Dana and Javadi remained uncertain as the first season wrapped up, hinting at possible cast exits. The show has been renewed for a second season set to air in 2026, following a group of employees working a single 15-hour shift at a fictional Pittsburgh hospital.

The medical accuracy of the show was praised by star Isa Briones, who revealed that the cast underwent a two-week medical boot camp before filming. The presence of a technical advisor also helped the actors learn the language and choreography needed for the medical scenes. Each character on “The Pitt” had their own storyline leading up to the end of the first season, with moments of struggle, growth, and connection depicted on screen.

Dr. Robby, still grappling with the aftermath of a mass shooting, received support from Dana and Abbot before heading home. Dr. Heather Collins did not return after experiencing a miscarriage at work, while Dr. Frank Langdon’s fate remained unknown as he refused to seek help for his addiction. Dana hinted at leaving her job after being punched earlier in the season, gathering her belongings and potentially leaving the hospital for good.

Dr. Samira Mohan went through emotional highs and lows during the shift, questioning the fulfillment of her life outside of work. Dr. Cassie McKay, arrested for tampering with her ankle monitor, was released after Robby intervened, and she left to be with her son. Dr. Mel King’s shift ended with a spinal tap and a dinner with her sister, while Dr. Trinity Santos showed compassion towards a suicidal patient and discovered a secret about Whitaker.

Dennis Whitaker was revealed to be homeless and squatting in the hospital, with Santos offering him a place to stay. Victoria Javadi considered leaving emergency medicine but ultimately decided to stay after an after-work drink with coworkers, including Dr. Jack Abbot, who was revealed to be an amputee. The first season of “The Pitt” concluded with each character’s arc coming to a close, setting the stage for the next installment set to air in 2026.
