Democrat Faces Backlash for ‘Demonic’ Video Urging ICE Agents to ‘Get Out’ During California Unrest

In recent events, a California Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Norma Torres, faced intense backlash from conservatives after she posted a controversial message on social media. In her TikTok post, Torres told federal agents conducting immigration raids in Los Angeles to “get the f— out,” as unrest and protests erupted over these actions. Her comments were perceived by many conservatives as inciting violence against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, with various prominent conservative figures and influencers vocally criticizing her. These reactions included accusations of her promoting hostility towards federal officers and calls for her expulsion from Congress.

Torres, whose origins trace back to Guatemala, has been a U.S. citizen since the 1990s. The criticism she received included harsh remarks labeling her a “lunatic” and even “demonic,” as social media chatter escalated. Influencers and politicians alike expressed outrage, suggesting her statements were irresponsible and potentially dangerous given the climate surrounding the immigration raids. The negative sentiment towards her reached a point where users from across the political spectrum called for accountability, through expressions that ranged from ridicule to demands for her arrest.

In response to the escalating tensions and riots in Los Angeles, former President Trump ordered 2,000 National Guard soldiers to the area to help restore peace and order. This deployment aimed to ensure that violent protests would not escalate in a manner similar to what occurred during the 2020 unrest in Minnesota. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem indicated that the deployment was a preventative measure against further violence and chaos while highlighting the importance of maintaining law and order.

As the riots unfolded, ICE agents found themselves under severe threat, facing hostility that included physical assaults with rocks and other projectiles. Reports indicated that protests quickly turned into riots, with ICE officers targeted for violence and graffiti calling for their harm. The intensity of these acts raised significant concerns regarding the safety of federal agents tasked with enforcing immigration laws in volatile environments. Notably, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks shared alarming evidence of the dangers, showing a photograph of a Border Patrol agent injured by debris during these confrontations.

Federal officials and conservative commentators joined together to express their discontent with the rhetoric employed by some Democratic lawmakers, deeming it irresponsible and potentially inciting further violence against federal officers. These officials stressed that hostile statements could lead to dire consequences for those enforcing the law, particularly in such a charged environment. The ongoing protests and riots have prompted discussions about the responsibilities of public officials to foster a more constructive dialogue regarding immigration policies and law enforcement methods.

As the situation in Los Angeles continues to evolve, the interactions between local lawmakers, federal authorities, and the public’s reactions are drawing significant attention. Both proponents and opponents of the immigration enforcement strategies are vigilantly watching how these conflicts unfold and the narratives shaped by public figures on social media. Rep. Torres’s comments have sparked a broader debate about immigration policy, law enforcement, and the responsibilities of elected officials in promoting peace and safety within their communities.
