Elon Musk’s “United States of America Inc” Sends Payments to Pro-Trump PAC Backers

Elon Musk’s involvement in the political realm took a mysterious turn earlier this month when he incorporated a new entity called “United States of America Inc.” Details about this company were scarce at first, but it was later revealed that it was connected to Musk’s family office and was involved in his political action committee, “America PAC.” This PAC has been actively campaigning for Donald Trump and other Republican candidates, spending millions of dollars in the process.

Recently, participants in Musk’s voter outreach efforts began receiving checks from United States of America Inc., shedding some light on the purpose of the entity. These payouts are part of America PAC’s voter giveaway program, where individuals receive money for referring registered swing state voters to sign petitions in support of free speech and the right to bear arms. The committee claimed to have distributed over 187,000 checks, totaling at least $8.7 million, with Musk aiming for one million signatures.

Individuals who received checks from United States of America Inc. shared their experiences, with one Arizona resident stating that he received three checks after referring three people to the PAC’s petition. Photos of the checks show that they do not identify America PAC in any way, causing confusion among recipients. The entity has not yet appeared in the PAC’s Federal Election Commission filings, and more information on United States of America Inc. may not be available until December.

In addition to his political activities, Musk is currently facing legal challenges related to America PAC’s cash prizes. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has filed a lawsuit against the PAC, alleging that its $1 million lottery payments to randomly selected petition signers violate Pennsylvania law against buying votes. Musk’s legal team has moved to transfer the case to federal court, delaying a potential ruling on the matter. The Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section has also warned America PAC about potential violations of federal law.

As the election approaches, Musk has turned his focus to promoting his PAC’s “election integrity community” on social media platform X. This community encourages users to report instances of voter fraud, but reviews have shown a prevalence of unsupported claims, doxxing attempts, and misinformation. Despite these issues, Musk remains invested in supporting Trump and other Republican candidates in their electoral efforts.
