Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush have collaborated on a new children’s book called I Loved You First. The book celebrates the love between parents and their children, reflecting on the support and joy that parents provide. Jenna, who is a mother of three, and Barbara, who is a mother of two, dedicated the book to their own parents, George W. Bush and Laura Bush. They were inspired by their parents’ ability to see the beauty in the world and wanted to pass that on to their own children.
Becoming parents has brought Jenna and Barbara even closer together. They talk about everything and share a strong bond, with Jenna praising Barbara for being like a mom to her children before she had her own. Barbara, on the other hand, enjoys the opportunity to have a relationship with her nieces and nephews and has hosted them for sleepovers and helped with Jenna’s baby. Their shared experiences as parents have deepened their connection and understanding of each other.
In addition to their children’s book, Barbara joined Jenna to cohost Today With Jenna & Friends on March 24 and 25. Despite the positive reception, Barbara has no interest in taking on the role full-time. Jenna, who has been cohosting the fourth hour of Today with various guest hosts, including family members, since Hoda Kotb’s departure, is content with the current arrangement and is not in a rush to find a permanent replacement for Kotb.
The hosting lineup for the show may be booked through the spring and early summer, but Jenna is living in the present and is open to whatever the future holds. She is enjoying the process and is not concerned about when or how it will end. I Loved You First is now available for purchase and features nature scenes inspired by their mother and grandmother, who instilled a love for nature in Jenna and Barbara. The book aims to encourage parents to see the world through their children’s eyes and find joy in the little moments of life.
