Former Employee Files Lawsuit Against Jesse James for Dog Attack

Jesse James is facing a lawsuit from his former employee, Karen Sanchez-Roberts, over injuries sustained in an alleged dog attack in April 2023. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the incident occurred when James’ dogs began attacking each other, and Sanchez-Roberts was injured while trying to separate them. She was taken to a local clinic where she was diagnosed with a fracture and received stitches for the injuries she sustained.

Sanchez-Roberts claimed in the lawsuit that James did not provide workers’ compensation insurance and that she suffered severe, debilitating, and permanent injuries that required surgical intervention as a result of the incident. She also alleged that James was aware of his dogs’ aggressive behavior but failed to take corrective action to prevent the attack. Additionally, she accused James of negligent handling of animals, failing to restrain the dogs, and failing to provide a safe workplace.

The lawsuit also claimed that the dogs owned by James were more aggressive towards people than is typical of their breed. Sanchez-Roberts stated that James had five dogs at his residence in Austin, Texas, where she worked as his personal assistant for his businesses, including West Coast Choppers, which he founded. She is seeking monetary damages to cover her medical care and expenses, physical pain and suffering, physical impairment, mental anguish, disfigurement, and loss of wages as a result of the incident.

James has denied all of Sanchez-Roberts’ claims in court documents obtained by Us Weekly. This is not the first time James’ dogs have made headlines for their behavior. In 2011, TMZ reported that James’ pit bull attacked a corgi, leading to the corgi being taken to a vet and receiving stitches and medical treatment. James reportedly paid $250 to cover the dog’s medical bills.

Us Weekly has reached out to James’ legal team for comment on the lawsuit and the allegations made by Sanchez-Roberts. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold and what further actions may be taken in response to the lawsuit. The incident sheds light on the importance of proper animal ownership and responsibility for the behavior of pets in ensuring the safety of others in the workplace and beyond.
