A 23-year-old black Marine Corps veteran from Trenton, New Jersey, named Joshua Cobb, has been accused of going on a hate-filled rampage threatening to shoot and kill white victims. According to federal prosecutors, Cobb made a series of online posts and text messages expressing his desire to cause mayhem by gunning down white people. He even aspired to become a serial killer, boasting that he would overdose on his own adrenaline after the 10th body went down. Cobb also expressed a lack of means to carry out his plan at the time but planned to acquire the appropriate weaponry in the future.

The US Attorney’s Office in New Jersey revealed that Cobb’s threatening messages included statements such as, “It’s all a f-ing game and you all are going to die,” and he had not chosen an exact date for carrying out his attacks but would ensure it was close to an important holiday for white people. Cobb mentioned specific locations where he planned to carry out his armed attacks, confident that no one there would be armed to stop him. His intended targets included a Jersey Strong gym and an Aldi grocery store in Robbinsville, Mercer County. He warned that his violent rampage would soon occur, once he accumulated the necessary equipment.

According to an 11-page federal complaint filed against Cobb, he admitted to writing the threatening messages when questioned by federal agents. Cobb also provided details on the sites he had chosen for the attacks, indicating that his plan was in motion. He continued to express his intentions online, using the pseudonym “1dayUsuffer,” on platforms such as TikTok, as well as through text messages. In one of his posts, Cobb mentioned that a crossbow was his favorite weapon to use for killing. Federal investigators seized Cobb’s mobile phone last month, uncovering all of the threatening messages he had sent online.

If Cobb is convicted of the charges against him, he could face up to five years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. Despite being a Marine Corps veteran stationed in California, Cobb’s disturbing messages and intentions have raised serious concerns about the possible harm he could have caused. The hate-filled nature of his posts and threats against white individuals have drawn attention to the issue of extremism and violence fueled by racial animosity. It is crucial for law enforcement to take such threats seriously and intervene before they escalate into dangerous actions that could harm innocent people.
