In the latest rankings released by US News & World Report, four hospitals in the New York City area have made it onto the prestigious nationwide Top 20 “honor roll.” The hospitals, which include Mount Sinai Hospital, New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell, NYU Langone Hospitals, and Hackensack University Medical Center, are celebrated for their exceptional healthcare services. This recognition underscores their commitment to high-quality care and positions them as leaders in the medical field. Additionally, these four hospitals tied for first place in the standings for best regional hospitals within the NYC metropolitan area, showcasing their prominence at both the state and national levels.
US News evaluated over 4,400 medical facilities across 15 specialties, providing a comprehensive overview of healthcare quality nationwide. Out of these evaluations, 504 regional hospitals were spotlighted for their excellence. Notably, NYU Langone Health distinguished itself by achieving the highest number of No. 1-ranked specialties among any medical center in the United States. This includes categories such as neurology and neurosurgery, where they have maintained a top position for four consecutive years, as well as significant accolades in cardiology, pulmonology, and geriatric care.
Dr. Robert I. Grossman, the CEO of NYU Langone Health and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, attributed this success to the dedication of the hospital’s employees. He emphasized that NYU Langone has consistently upheld a high standard of patient care across all locations and specialties, ensuring optimal outcomes for their patients. This commitment is reflected in the rankings of all 13 of their clinical specialties, which placed within the Top 20 nationally.
The individual contributions of specialized health teams have also been recognized as pivotal to achieving these high rankings. Dr. Steven L. Galetta, an expert in neurology at NYU Langone, highlighted the complexity of cases their teams manage, expressing gratitude for the continued recognition. Similarly, Dr. Glenn I. Mount Sinai Hospital is also receiving accolades, having improved its performance from previous years. It holds Top 10 rankings in five specialties and Top 20 rankings in nine specialties, signifying a broad array of excellence in patient care. Dr. Brendan G. New York-Presbyterian Hospital, now recognized for the 22nd consecutive year, celebrated its achievements with 12 specialties in the Top 10. Hackensack University Medical Center marked a significant milestone this year, becoming the first New Jersey hospital to secure a Top 20 national ranking. CEO Robert C.
