Georgia sorority girl arrested for a second time weeks after first run-in with police captured in ‘smiling’ mugshot

“Lily Stewart, a sophomore Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Georgia, was arrested for the second time this month after her first arrest at the beginning of March for excessive speeding. The arrest on Sunday, March 23, was for obstruction of a law enforcement officer and loitering/prowling. Stewart posted her $4,600 bond and was released from police custody shortly before 11 a.m. She first made headlines on March 8 after being pulled over twice in a matter of minutes for speeding “in excess of maximum limits.” An officer pulled her over for going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone, and then two minutes later, she was pulled over again for going 84 mph in the same zone. Stewart explained she was on her way to a party when she was pulled over.”

“Stewart’s smiling mugshot went viral and attracted attention across the internet. She even addressed her arrest on TikTok and shared some of the most “unhinged” comments she received. People on social media offered to pay her bail, and she gained thousands of new followers from the viral mugshot. Despite the attention, Stewart described the photo as not particularly stunning and not a great representation of her. Following her first arrest, she told TMZ that being booked into jail was the craziest experience she had ever seen and hoped to never experience anything like it again. Stewart stated that she found the situation hilarious and even joked about being a basic white girl with a monogram rain jacket.”

“In response to her latest arrest, neither UGA nor her attorney commented on the situation. Stewart’s attorney, Stephen Morris, declined to provide any details about her latest arrest. Despite the lack of comments, Stewart has been unapologetic about her actions and continues to engage with the attention her mugshot has garnered on social media. She remains active on platforms like TikTok where she addresses the situation with humor and shares the reactions she has received from followers. It is unclear what consequences Stewart may face following her second arrest, as she has not issued any public statements regarding the incident.”

“The initial incident that led to Stewart’s viral mugshot included her being pulled over twice in a short period of time for speeding. She was on her way to a party at a nearby college when the incidents occurred. Stewart shared her perspective on the events in interviews and on social media, portraying a laid-back attitude about the situation. While some may criticize her behavior, others find humor in the situation and have offered support to Stewart in various ways. The attention surrounding her arrest has led to an increase in her social media following and has propelled her into the spotlight for the time being.”

“Despite the increasing attention and notoriety, Stewart remains unfazed and continues to navigate the aftermath of her arrests with a sense of humor. She has not shied away from addressing the situation publicly and engaging with her audience in a lighthearted manner. Stewart’s ability to find humor in the circumstances may be seen as either admirable or concerning, depending on individual perspectives. As the story continues to develop, it is uncertain what the future holds for Stewart and how she will move forward from the recent events. For now, she remains a figure of intrigue and fascination for those following her story.”
