U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) carried out a joint operation on Nantucket, Massachusetts, to apprehend “illegal criminal aliens.” The DEA New England division announced that its agents worked in collaboration with ICE and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston during the arrests on the luxurious island located 30 miles south of Cape Cod. Specific details about the suspects, including their names and countries of origin, were not disclosed by authorities. The operation also involved the U.S. Coast Guard, which assisted in transporting federal agents to and from the island with a suspect in custody.

In response to inquiries regarding the operation, the acting special agent in charge of the DEA’s New England Field Division highlighted the agency’s involvement in immigration enforcement activities in partnership with federal counterparts. The Town of Nantucket revealed in a press release that the local police department was informed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and DEA of their intention to serve an arrest warrant for a “violent offender” on the island. Assistance was sought from local law enforcement due to their familiarity with the area, and the police department’s detective unit helped federal agents identify targeted addresses, as well as provided transportation support to the DEA during the operation.

A previous operation by ICE in September resulted in the arrest of at least six individuals in the Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard areas, as part of an initiative to detain undocumented immigrant suspects accused of serious crimes in popular beach towns frequented by the families of President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama. One of the detainees in the September operation was Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo, a 28-year-old Salvadoran undocumented immigrant charged with rape of a child with a significant age difference and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. The U.S. Coast Guard and Nantucket Police Department assisted federal authorities during this operation as well.

Details of the suspits were not divulged as Fox News Digital reached out to the DEA for more information. This joint operation involved the DEA, ICE, and other federal agencies, in addition to the U.S. Coast Guard. Local law enforcement on Nantucket played a crucial role in supporting the federal agents by providing their knowledge of the area and logistical assistance during the operation. The collaboration between various law enforcement authorities underscores the concerted effort to address immigration enforcement and target individuals involved in criminal activities within the region.

The arrest of individuals in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, both popular vacation destinations, is part of a broader campaign to crack down on illegal immigration and apprehend offenders accused of serious crimes. The collaboration between federal agencies and local law enforcement highlights the importance of coordinated efforts to address immigration enforcement and ensure public safety. Law enforcement agencies, including ICE, the DEA, and the U.S. Coast Guard, worked together to execute the operation, which resulted in the arrest of suspects with criminal backgrounds. The engagement of multiple agencies in carrying out such operations reflects the commitment to enforcing immigration laws and holding individuals accountable for criminal offenses.
