John Leguizamo Criticizes Dean Cain for Joining ICE: ‘Your Pronouns Are Has/Been’

John Leguizamo recently expressed strong criticism towards Dean Cain, who announced his intention to support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in their efforts to enforce stricter immigration policies under the Trump administration. Cain, best known for his role as Clark Kent on the 1990s TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” has taken a controversial step by joining forces with ICE, claiming he wants to “help save America.” Leguizamo, a vocal critic of Trump, responded to Cain’s announcement on social media with incredulous statements, questioning his motives and mocking his decision to volunteer for a role associated with deportations.

In a pointed Instagram video, Leguizamo disparaged Cain, calling him a “loser” for choosing to become an ICE officer. His remarks were laced with sarcasm, suggesting that Cain embodies a bygone era, coining the phrase “has/been” to further diminish the actor’s credibility. Following this initial reaction, Leguizamo continued his commentary by posting a satirical DVD cover featuring Cain’s image, humorously titled “AGED ICE.” His caption included a quip about Cain’s age, reinforcing the belittling tone of his critique and demonstrating his disdain for Cain’s alignment with a polarizing political figure and agency.

Cain announced his new affiliation through a video urging others to join him in enforcing ICE’s immigration policies. In his nearly two-minute address, he emphasized his commitment as a sworn law enforcement officer and filmmaker, aiming to take actionable steps toward increasing public safety. He highlighted that since Trump assumed presidency, ICE has apprehended numerous criminals, including terrorists and gang members, suggesting that their operations are essential for the safety of American citizens. Cain’s portrayal of ICE as a crucial defender of the homeland aimed to rally potential recruits while promoting the benefits associated with working for the agency.

The recruitment pitch included enticing elements, such as financial incentives for new agents, including a significant signing bonus announced by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Cain encouraged his audience that joining ICE could be an accessible opportunity since it does not require a college degree. He positioned this as a chance for individuals to get involved quickly in a meaningful role, addressing national security and family safety. Nevertheless, many critics were skeptical of Cain’s recruitment push, particularly given concerns regarding his age, which exceeds the typical cut-off for federal agents.

Critics pointed out Cain’s lack of eligibility for recruitment, as the federal agency traditionally has a maximum age limit of 37. Cain, however, responded to this criticism with humor, suggesting that the rules might be bent for him. Furthermore, Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin indicated that the agency could waive the age limit to allow applicants like Cain to join. This development proposed an unorthodox avenue for Cain, which stirred additional questions about the seriousness and integrity of the recruitment efforts being put forth by ICE.

The announcement from Cain coincided with a broader push by the Department of Homeland Security launched under the promotional campaign “Defend the Homeland,” aiming to recruit 10,000 new agents following recent funding initiatives. Cain’s involvement in this effort symbolizes the intersection of popular culture with pressing political issues while underscoring the contentious environment surrounding immigration policy in the United States. As discussions continue, the division between figures like Leguizamo and Cain serves as a reflection of much deeper societal debates regarding immigration, law enforcement, and the impact of celebrity influence in political narratives.
