Fans of the beloved WB series Gilmore Girls have long debated over the romances of the main character, Rory, but the most heart-wrenching love story actually belonged to Lane Kim and Dave Rygalski. Lane and Dave dated in season 3, but their relationship was cut short when Adam Brody, who portrayed Dave, left to star on The O.C. Lane went on to marry Zack and have twins, but according to Keiko Agena, who played Lane, the ending might have been different if the show were still airing today. Agena believes that Lane and Dave would have eventually reconnected and maintained a friendship, even though Lane is happily married to Zack.

Agena expressed her hopes for Lane’s character, stating that she imagines Lane traveling and exploring the world while still being married to Zack. Being a fan of music, Agena believes that Lane’s journey would involve more interactions outside of Connecticut and potentially lead to her becoming an international star. Agena hinted at a potential storyline where Lane writes fantasy fanfiction that turns into a concept album involving musician Bjork, showcasing Lane’s creativity and passion for music.

When asked about a possible reboot of Gilmore Girls, Agena expressed her excitement and willingness to return to the show if creator Amy Sherman-Palladino had a compelling idea for the storyline. Agena praised Sherman-Palladino’s talent and acknowledged that the entire cast would be interested in exploring where their characters are now. The original series aired from 2000 to 2007, and almost 10 years after its conclusion, Netflix released a four-part revival titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016, reuniting most of the original cast in their iconic roles.

While no further onscreen reunions have been announced, Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore, recently shared a photo on Instagram with Kelly Bishop, who portrayed Emily Gilmore, leading fans to speculate about a possible future project. The photo showed the two actresses posing for a selfie with big sunglasses on, captioned with a nod to their characters as “the ladies who lunch.” The reunion of Graham and Bishop sparked excitement among Gilmore Girls fans who would love to see more interactions between the iconic mother-daughter duo.

The enduring popularity of Gilmore Girls and the positive reception of the revival series indicate a strong fan interest in the lives of the characters and their potential future storylines. Agena’s insights into Lane’s character development and potential adventures, as well as her enthusiasm for a reboot, highlight the impact of the show on both the cast and audience. Whether or not a new project materializes, the legacy of Gilmore Girls continues to live on in the hearts of fans who appreciate the unique relationships, witty dialogue, and heartwarming moments that made the series a beloved classic.
