The 2025 Kia EV9 GT is a new and improved version of the highly awarded Kia EV9 electric vehicle. This GT model offers more power and technology, including the first-for-Kia Electronically Controlled Suspension and the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing it to charge at Tesla Superchargers. It also features a sportier design with 21-inch wheels, neon green brake calipers, and pixelated LED headlights. The interior of the EV9 GT boasts bright green accents, Alcantara suede sport bucket seats, and two 12.3-inch screens for the digital driver cluster and infotainment system. Kia notes that the vehicle’s content and features can be updated through over-the-air updates, keeping the SUV fresh and innovative.
The 2025 Kia EV9 GT comes standard with all-wheel drive, powered by electric motors on the front and rear axles. The front motor generates 160 kW, while the rear produces 270 kW, resulting in an estimated 501 horsepower, a 122 horsepower increase from the standard model. Kia is targeting a zero-to-sixty time of just 4.3 seconds for the EV9 GT, making it a high-performance electric SUV. The vehicle also features technology borrowed from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, allowing owners to adjust shock damping, steering, and brake feel, as well as a GT mode that sets the vehicle to its most aggressive settings with a single button press.
The 2025 Kia EV9 GT includes an advanced Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) system that simulates the experience of a regular automatic transmission, giving drivers the option to use paddle shifters on the steering wheel to manually shift gears. The electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD) works in conjunction with VGS to replicate the sounds of gear shifts during acceleration. The GT model also features an electronic limited-slip differential for enhanced corner stability and power distribution to the necessary side of the rear axle. With an 800-volt architecture for fast charging, the EV9 GT can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime for drivers.
The 2025 Kia EV9 GT is equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, such as Smart Cruise Control-Curve, which adjusts the vehicle’s speed around curves on expressways, and Parking Collision Avoidance Assist, which alerts drivers of pedestrians or objects while parking and intervenes with the brakes if necessary. Despite being a performance-oriented variant, the GT version of the EV9 may not necessarily increase sales volume significantly. However, it does contribute to enhancing the vehicle’s image and potentially attracting buyers who are looking for a more powerful option within the EV9 range. The 2025 Kia EV9 GT is set to go on sale next year, with pricing expected to be higher than the standard models due to the increased power and features included in this high-performance electric SUV.
