Macy Gray made a memorable exit from the UK version of The Masked Singer as Toad in the Hole when she was eliminated after performing against Bear. The judges ultimately chose to save Bear, leading Gray to walk off the stage in response. She later returned in an episode to unveil her identity and was interviewed by host Joel Dommett, who shared a clip of the conversation on Instagram. Dommett praised Gray’s iconic voice but noted that the show thrives on the mystery of the masked singers and the anticipation of their reveal.

Dommett explained that contestants who are eliminated early still receive the same compensation and do not have to continue with the competition, making it a “win-win situation.” He expressed amusement at Gray’s exit, particularly as a 6ft toad, calling it the funniest thing he has ever seen. Prior to her appearance on the UK version of the show, Gray participated in the US edition in 2023 as the Sea Queen, where she described the challenge of performing in the elaborate costumes as well as the excitement of transforming into a confident performer on stage.

In a previous interview with Us Weekly, Gray opened up about her struggles with self-confidence and the transformation she undergoes before performing. She explained that she puts on a cape to embody the bravery and confidence needed to take the stage. Gray also expressed her love for performing, emphasizing that there is nothing better than being on stage in front of an audience. Despite her early elimination from The Masked Singer, Gray’s unique voice and charismatic personality left a lasting impression on fans and viewers of the show.
