Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted his candidacy for a parliamentary seat in Varanasi, the spiritual capital of Hinduism. Modi, known for his strong ties to the country’s majority faith, has represented Varanasi since coming to power a decade ago. During the nomination process, Modi swore allegiance to India’s constitution and was accompanied by a Hindu mystic. Supporters gathered outside the government office, expressing their admiration for Modi and viewing him as a divine figure.

Devotee Jitendra Singh Kumar, a farmer, described Modi as a godlike figure for the people of Varanasi and praised his focus on the country’s interests. Modi’s visit to Varanasi included visits to temples and prayers at the Ganges river, showcasing his commitment to religious practices. Upon leaving the office after submitting his nomination, Modi greeted the crowd and departed with his BJP colleagues.

The 73-year-old Prime Minister has integrated acts of religious devotion into his leadership, which has contributed to his popularity among the Indian populace. Upon arriving in Varanasi, Modi was welcomed by throngs of supporters lining the streets, waving party flags and throwing flowers at the passing procession. The enthusiastic reception underscored the fervent support for Modi and his party ahead of the general elections.

The Prime Minister’s close association with Hinduism and his reputation as a strong leader have solidified his standing in Varanasi. Modi’s commitment to religious practices is seen as a key aspect of his appeal to voters in the region, where faith holds great significance.

As the BJP is widely expected to triumph in the upcoming elections, Modi’s nomination in Varanasi symbolizes the party’s stronghold on Indian politics. The strong support for Modi in Varanasi reflects the broader trend of admiration for his leadership and policies across the country. With his candidacy in Varanasi, Modi aims to secure his position as the representative of the city and reinforce his connection to his devoted followers.
