Nearly a decade has passed since college baseball player Calvin Riley was murdered, and federal investigators recently announced a significant development in the case. On Tuesday, the FBI released a new sketch of a second person believed to be involved in the incident. Calvin, a promising 20-year-old player for the San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs, was shot on the evening of August 6, 2016, while playing Pokémon Go at Aquatic Park in San Francisco. At the time, he was with a friend when a bullet struck him, traveling from a north-to-northwest direction, according to investigative reports.

The FBI initially identified the presence of two individuals near the crime scene. One male suspect is believed to have been the driver of a vehicle parked nearby and was accompanied by a blonde female, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old. Additionally, another male was noticed recording video at the scene. Investigators also pinpointed two suspicious vehicles involved in the incident: a white 2015 Hyundai Sonata and a dark-colored Audi A3 wagon. Both vehicles reportedly arrived together just before the shooting and departed in tandem shortly after.

Witnesses, including a family friend, noted that Calvin and his companion had spotted someone watching them from a distance. However, due to the darkness, they were engrossed in the game on their phones and did not confront or approach the figure. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear; there was no visible conflict or interaction between Calvin and the assailants, with his personal belongings, including his wallet and phone, left untouched.

Calvin’s father, Sean Riley, expressed the profound impact the tragedy has had on their family, stating how much they miss their son. In a recent interview, he shared a renewed sense of hope following the FBI’s ongoing efforts in the case. He praised the agency’s commitment and stated, “It’s been a lot. I mean, it has been nine years.” The Rileys are determined to find justice for Calvin, who harbored dreams of playing for the Boston Red Sox and was a fan of the San Francisco Giants.

In a heartfelt tribute on a dedicated Facebook page, Calvin’s family reaffirmed their love and commitment to seeking justice. They expressed that every moment of every day is filled with memories of Calvin, emphasizing their determination to find the person responsible for his death. The family is steadfast in their belief that they will eventually uncover the truth behind this tragic event.

To aid in the investigation, the FBI has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the identification and probable arrest of the individuals responsible for Calvin Riley’s murder. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the FBI’s San Francisco Field Office or submit a tip online. This appeal for public assistance underscores the ongoing quest for justice in a case that has remained unresolved for nearly a decade.
