NJ Doctor Resigns After Nurse Claims He ‘Celebrated’ Charlie Kirk’s Death

A recent incident at Englewood Health in New Jersey has garnered significant attention after a doctor, Matthew Jung, resigned amidst accusations that he celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The controversy began when nurse Lexi Kuenzle reported Jung’s comments made in front of patients and staff, claiming he expressed sentiments of cheer regarding Kirk’s alleged assassination. Kuenzle stated that Jung declared Kirk “deserved it” and “had it coming,” comments she found particularly shocking as a self-proclaimed supporter of Kirk.

Following her report of Jung’s behavior, Kuenzle faced allegations of retaliation, as she was reportedly suspended from her duties. In response to the incident, Englewood Health conducted an investigation, although the findings have not been made public. However, the hospital confirmed that it had accepted Jung’s resignation and clarified that Kuenzle would maintain her position and pay, alleviating concerns about her job security.

Kuenzle appeared on “Fox & Friends” to discuss the situation, providing further insights into her experience and the implications of Jung’s comments. She emphasized her support for Kirk and expressed astonishment at a medical professional making such inflammatory remarks about a public figure. Her lawyer, John-Paul Deol, has been working on her behalf, underlining the seriousness of the allegations and the need for accountability in the healthcare setting.

Englewood Health issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to a safe and respectful environment for both staff and patients. The institution intends to foster an atmosphere where staff members feel secure in reporting inappropriate behavior without fear of retaliation. This pledge is particularly vital given the current climate surrounding healthcare professionals and political discourse, which can often lead to intense confrontations.

Public reactions to the incident have highlighted broader societal divisions, with discussions centering on the appropriateness of a healthcare provider expressing political opinions in a clinical setting. Critics argue that such behavior undermines the professionalism expected from medical staff, while supporters of Kuenzle praise her for taking a stand against the misconduct.

As this situation unfolds, it raises important questions about workplace conduct in healthcare environments and the potential consequences of expressing personal political beliefs in professional settings. The decision by Englewood Health to support Kuenzle while accepting Jung’s resignation reflects an effort to prioritize workplace integrity and accountability amid a politically charged atmosphere.
