The Bible, inscribed by Kardashian Sr. and given to O.J. Simpson in 1994 following his arrest in connection to the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, was recently sought after by Kim Kardashian. However, her $15,000 offer was turned down by the estate executor, Malcolm LaVergne, as there were already plans in place to auction the item off. Despite the rejection, Kim may have another opportunity to bid on the bible online, as it currently has a leading bid of just under $10k.
The bible, which includes a handwritten message from Kardashian Sr. dated June 18, 1994, was meant to offer comfort and guidance to Simpson during a difficult time. The note reads, “O.J., this book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.” Both Kardashian Sr. and Simpson have since passed away, but the Bible remains as a significant item.
Malcolm LaVergne, the executor of Simpson’s estate, is responsible for selling off his assets and personal items to pay off any remaining debts. The bible is not the only item being auctioned off, with bidding also open for a framed photo of Simpson with former U.S. president Bill Clinton and football memorabilia from Simpson’s career in the NFL. Some of the items for sale include a replica of Simpson’s 1968 Heisman Trophy and a trophy he received for being the first NFL player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season in 1973.
Despite the sentimental value that the bible holds for the Kardashians, LaVergne chose to adhere to the existing auction plans rather than entertain Kim Kardashian’s offer of $15,000. He explained that it would not be financially beneficial to contest the contract for such an amount. The bible is currently up for auction through Goldin Auctions, along with other personal items belonging to Simpson. In allowing online bidding, Kim may still have a chance to acquire the bible at a potentially lower price than her initial offer.
The auction of O.J. Simpson’s personal items, including the bible from Kardashian Sr., serves as a reminder of the infamous trial and the people involved in the case. The collection of items reflects different aspects of Simpson’s life, from his football career to his relationships with individuals like Kardashian Sr. and President Bill Clinton. The auction provides a unique opportunity for fans and collectors to acquire pieces of history related to one of the most high-profile trials in recent memory.
