Tech stocks have been the driving force behind the market recently, with huge inflows into tech funds. However, there are signs of a potential rotation happening behind the scenes. This has led to questions about what this means for the market and if it will continue. MoneyShow expert contributors shared their insights on what other stocks and sectors investors should consider beyond mega-cap names like Nvidia Corp. (NVDA).

Lucas Downey of Mapsignals.com highlighted the strong performance of mega-cap tech names, which have outperformed the broader market. He pointed out that now might be the time to prepare for a reversion trade, with potential opportunities in the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP). Looking at historical data, he found that when the RSP/SPY ratio fell below a certain threshold, the subsequent performance of the S&P 500 Equal Weight basket was particularly impressive.

John Eade of Argus Research discussed the strong start to May and the overall positive stock-market gain for the year so far. He noted that energy looks more attractive at the moment, given the recent GDP data and economic indicators showing signs of deceleration. Eade adjusted his forecast for 2024 GDP growth downward and shared his sector recommendations for the third quarter of the year, taking into account both quantitative and qualitative factors.

Thomas Hayes of Hedge Fund Tips cautioned investors about the recent surge in Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) stock. While NVDA has seen phenomenal growth and market cap expansion, Hayes highlighted concerns about decelerating growth and potential competition in the semiconductor space. He emphasized the cyclical nature of the semiconductor business and warned investors to be cautious about the perceived value at current levels.

Mary Ellen McGonagle of MEM Edge Report shared her insights on the stock market outlook, standout sectors like technology, and the differences between the current AI boom and the Dot-Com Bubble era. McGonagle discussed her background in covering stocks and fixed income markets, as well as her work in uncovering winning stocks for investors. She also highlighted key technical indicators she watches to gauge market health and uptrends in specific stocks.

Overall, MoneyShow expert contributors provided a comprehensive view of the current market landscape, highlighting opportunities and potential risks for investors. With tech stocks leading the way, but signs of rotation emerging, investors are advised to look beyond the popular mega-cap names and consider other sectors for potential growth. As the market continues to evolve, staying informed and being aware of the factors influencing stock performance is crucial for making informed investment decisions.
