Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cuts of Rebel Moon Part 1 and 2 have been released on Netflix, but they have not been receiving the same attention as the original films. Despite being listed separately on Netflix, neither part of the Director’s Cut made it to the US list on Saturday or Sunday. Part 2 has been ranked as the #5 movie on the overall global top 10 list, while Part 1 is not on the list at all, causing confusion among viewers.

Reviews for the Director’s Cut films have been slightly higher than the original versions, but the numbers show a significant difference in terms of ratings and reviews. Part 1 has only 7 critic reviews and 250 audience reviews, while the original had 182 critic reviews and 10,000 audience ratings. Part 2 has a similar ratio, indicating that only a fraction of the original viewers are watching the Director’s Cut versions.

Netflix’s attempt to recreate the success of the Snyder Cut of Justice League by allowing Snyder to create uncensored cuts of Rebel Moon seems to have backfired. The decision to release a PG-13 cut in addition to an R-rated cut has not garnered as much attention as expected, with only die-hard fans and a few critics tuning in to watch. The future of Snyder’s Rebel Moon universe in live-action form seems uncertain, as plans for six movies and a video game may not come to fruition.

Despite the lack of success of the Director’s Cut versions of Rebel Moon, Snyder may still have opportunities to explore the universe through animation or comics. Many fans and critics place the blame on Netflix for giving Snyder too much creative control and for attempting to orchestrate a release strategy that did not resonate with viewers. It remains to be seen whether the Director’s Cut of Rebel Moon will ever make it onto the charts, but based on the current numbers, doubts remain about its success. Fans can follow Snyder on social media and check out his sci-fi novels for more content.
