Matthew Perry had a substantial amount of money in his personal bank account amounting to over $1.5 million when he died in October. This information was revealed in an inventory and appraisal document filed by one of the executors of his estate. Despite his successful acting career, Perry had most of his assets placed in a trust called the Alvy Singer Living Trust as outlined in a will written in 2009. At the peak of his career on the hit show Friends, Perry and his castmates were earning $1 million per episode, with his reported net worth at the time of his death being $120 million.

According to Perry’s will, his parents, Suzanne Morrison and John Perry, and his half-siblings from his parents’ second marriages were named as beneficiaries of the trust. The will also outlined that all of his personal and household belongings, including jewelry, furniture, art, and automobiles, would be part of his residuary estate. His mother has four children with her husband, Keith Morrison, and his father and stepmother have a daughter together. Perry passed away at the age of 54 due to the acute effects of ketamine, as stated by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades with no signs of foul play. The toxicology report released later revealed that his death was due to a combination of factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid use. The actor’s death was ultimately ruled as an accident. In May, it was reported that authorities were investigating the source of the ketamine that played a role in Perry’s death. Both the Los Angeles police and the Drug Enforcement Administration had been looking into the matter for several months.

Despite his financial success and fame, Perry’s death shed light on the struggles he faced with addiction and his health. The actor’s estate and assets were handled according to his will, ensuring that his loved ones, including his parents, siblings, and other family members, were provided for. The tragic circumstances surrounding Perry’s death served as a reminder of the impact of substance abuse and the importance of addressing addiction and mental health issues. The investigation into the source of the ketamine that led to Perry’s passing highlighted the dangers of illicit drug use and the need for awareness and prevention efforts in combating the opioid epidemic.
