A new lawsuit has been filed against a South Carolina pastor, John-Paul Miller, and his father, accusing them of sexual abuse and predatory conduct. The lawsuit alleges that John-Paul attacked a 15-year-old girl in 1998 at his father’s church, “All Nations Church.” The complaint describes how the Millers, who presented themselves as devout religious leaders, used the church as a “sexual playground” and targeted vulnerable victims, often minors, for exploitation. The lawsuit also raises questions about the financial dealings of the ministries and their leaders, calling for action to protect minors from predators like John-Paul.
The complaint recounts an incident where John-Paul, then 19, allegedly sexually assaulted the teenage girl in his father’s office before forcing her into his truck. The victim, identified as “Jane Doe,” now lives in Indiana and is seeking justice for the assault she endured. The lawsuit details John-Paul’s troubled history, including prior legal troubles, a child born out of wedlock, and a pattern of misconduct, known to church members and leadership at the time of the assault. The complaint accuses the Millers of using their positions of power to manipulate and exploit vulnerable individuals while hiding their actions from the public.
Years after the initial assault, the same woman encountered John-Paul in 2023 and was allegedly assaulted again. The woman reported that John-Paul touched her genitals without consent and later tried to justify his actions by quoting scripture from the Bible. The lawsuit describes how the church leadership, including John-Paul’s father, should have taken steps to protect minors from predators like John-Paul, but failed to do so. The complaint also references the financial controversies surrounding the ministry and its leaders, calling for accountability and justice.
The lawsuit also sheds light on the strained relationship between John-Paul and his wife, Mica Miller, who tragically took her own life in April of the previous year. Mica, 30, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in North Carolina’s Lumber River State Park, just two days after filing for divorce from John-Paul. The death of Mica brought attention to the couple’s troubled marriage and raised questions about the circumstances leading up to her suicide. John-Paul was arrested in November on charges of assault and battery following a confrontation with protesters outside his local church, Solid Rock at Common Market.
The FBI searched John-Paul’s home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in November, and his attorney has declined to comment on his wife’s case. The lawsuit against John-Paul and his father seeks justice for the victims of their alleged sexual abuse and predatory conduct, as well as accountability for the financial dealings of the ministries. The allegations paint a disturbing picture of the abuse of power within religious institutions and call for action to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. As the legal battle unfolds, the community grapples with the dark truth behind the facade of religious leadership exhibited by the Millers.
