Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour is not only captivating fans with her music and performances but also with a mobile game called Mastermind. Since its launch, the game has become a social media sensation, with Swifties sharing their scores, victories, and defeats related to predicting various elements of upcoming shows. The game is based on Swift’s song “Mastermind” and is housed within the Swift Alert app, created by fan Kyle Mumma to notify fans of Era Tours shows around the world.

Players of Mastermind are tasked with guessing details such as the colors of the set for the 1989 era, the dress Swift will wear for the song “Fearless,” and the guitar color she will play for “Lover.” Correct answers earn points and bragging rights on social media. The game has gained popularity among fans, with thousands participating during each show on the tour. Mumma, who works full-time as a product manager for a tech sports company, has seen the game become the most popular feature of the Swift Alert app, providing fans with a fun and emotional connection to the tour.

The game has attracted Swifties from all over the world, with players making random guesses or using their extensive knowledge of Swift and tour trends to predict outcomes. New games are launched about 24 hours before a show, and players share their predictions on TikTok videos. The app’s team watches every show to reveal the answers during the concert and update the leaderboard post-show. The top player wins a prize, usually related to Taylor Swift, such as a signed CD or vinyl record. The game has brought fans together from various countries, making the experience of the Eras Tour even more enjoyable for participants.

As the tour continues, the number of Mastermind players has grown significantly, with a record 288,000 people playing during a recent show in Zurich. The game has become a source of excitement and engagement for fans who may not be able to attend or watch the shows live. Mumma acknowledges that predicting Swift’s actions based on patterns alone can be challenging, as she is known for surprising her audience. However, the game offers fans a chance to feel involved and connected to the tour, enhancing their overall experience as they follow Swift across different cities and countries.

Despite the global reach of Mastermind, the focus of the game remains on providing fans with a fun and interactive way to engage with the tour. Most players enjoy the game for the sense of community it fosters among Swifties, rather than the prizes they may win. Through social media posts, players celebrate their victories and bond over their love for Taylor Swift’s music and performances. The game has become a significant part of the Eras Tour experience for many fans, adding an extra layer of excitement and enjoyment to their connection with Swift and her music.
