The 2025 NFL Draft is fast approaching, with Miami quarterback Cam Ward expected to be the first overall pick to the Tennessee Titans. Following Ward, players like Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Mason Graham, and Will Campbell are likely to be selected. However, there is also a focus on potential late-round steals who could prove to be valuable assets to teams. Players like Dont’e Thornton, Jaydon Blue, Jack Nelson, and Tommi Hill are projected to be drafted in the fifth round or later but have the potential to make a significant impact in the NFL.

One player to keep an eye on is Dont’e Thornton, a wide receiver from Tennessee. Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 205 pounds, Thornton has the physical attributes to excel at the next level. His impressive 4.30 40-yard dash time at the combine showcased his speed and agility. In 2024, Thornton had a standout season with 661 receiving yards and six touchdowns, boasting the highest yards per reception in the FBS. Despite his potential, Thornton is expected to be a late-round pick, making him a potential steal for a team in need of a dynamic receiver.

Another player to watch is Jaydon Blue, a running back from Texas. With a strong showing in 2024, Blue rushed for 730 yards and eight touchdowns while also contributing in the passing game with 42 receptions for 368 yards and six scores. At the combine, Blue impressed with his speed, making him a versatile threat out of the backfield. Teams looking for a running back late in the draft should keep an eye on Blue, as he has the potential to outperform his draft position and make an impact in the NFL.

Jack Nelson, an offensive tackle from Wisconsin, is another player who could be a steal in the later rounds of the draft. With a solid Pro Football Focus grade in 2024 and prototypical tackle size, Nelson has the physical tools to succeed in the NFL. His experience as a four-year starter at Wisconsin provides valuable experience, and his impressive arm length makes him an attractive prospect for teams in need of offensive line help. While he may need time to adjust to the speed of NFL edge rushers, Nelson has the potential to become a reliable starter in the right scheme.

Tommi Hill, a cornerback from Nebraska, is a player with potential despite a shortened 2024 season due to injury. In the games he played, Hill showcased NFL-caliber traits with 21 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one interception. With a history of playing wide receiver, Hill has excellent hands and could provide solid coverage in a team’s secondary. While his draft stock may be affected by his injury, Hill has the skills to be a valuable asset to a team looking for a versatile defensive back. Keep an eye on Hill as a potential late-round steal in the 2025 NFL Draft.
