To apply for the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) in Malaysia, Singapore drivers can register for an account on the official website vep.jpj.gov.my. All categories of vehicles, including private and commercial cars, as well as embassy and government vehicles, must register for a VEP before entering Malaysia. During the registration process, applicants will need to upload a vehicle log card or manually input information about the vehicle, such as the model, certificate of entitlement (COE), and chassis numbers. The vehicle log card can be obtained from the Land Transport Authority’s OneMotoring website.
In order to complete the VEP application, drivers will need to provide their NRIC, passport, vehicle road tax, insurance, car model, and COE details. Once the application has been submitted and approved, drivers will receive an email notification with instructions on how to collect the VEP RFID tag. This RFID tag can either be couriered to the driver’s address or collected in person at one of the four VEP collection centres. Once received, the RFID tag should be attached to either the top left corner of the windscreen or the left headlamp of the vehicle.
While drivers have the option to receive the RFID tags by post, many prefer to collect them in person at authorized centres, which can result in long queues. It is also possible for a representative to apply for the VEP on behalf of the driver. Once the VEP application has been approved and the RFID tag has been collected and installed, drivers will be able to drive into Malaysia without any issues. The VEP is a necessary requirement for Singapore drivers who wish to travel into Malaysia, so it is important to complete the application process in a timely manner.
