America has a love affair with fast food, with the United States being the leading consumer of fast food in the world. A study conducted by the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts has revealed which states consume the most fast food. Researchers looked at the number of fast food restaurants versus general restaurants in each state, as well as the population and fast food spending as a percentage of overall food spending. The results showed that some states love fast food more than others.
The top 10 states that consume the most fast food vary across the country. Oklahoma, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Ohio were among the states that made the list. Surprisingly, California also made the top 10 list, coming in sixth place. The findings may be unexpected, as the popularity of fast food can often be influenced by factors like population density and access to dining options.
Hawaii ranked fifth on the list of states that consume the most fast food, likely due to its status as a top tourist destination. New York claimed the fourth spot, with its bustling city lifestyle encouraging late-night McDonald’s runs. Illinois came in third place, with residents spending a significant portion of their food budget on fast food. Nevada, home to Las Vegas and its vibrant food scene, ranked second on the list.
Maryland took the top spot as the state that consumes the most fast food. Nearly half of all restaurants in Maryland are fast food establishments, indicating a strong preference for food on the go in the state. While fast food is a popular choice for many Americans, it is important for consumers to be cautious about where they order from, as some restaurants have higher rates of errors in fulfilling orders. According to Intouch Insight, Chick-fil-A, Burger King, and McDonald’s are the top three most accurate chains when it comes to order accuracy, while KFC, Taco Bell, and Dunkin’ Donuts are known for frequently getting orders wrong.
