A climate protester named Nathaniel Smith was arrested for spray-painting “USA” over a presidential plaque inside Trump Tower in New York City. The act of vandalism was captured on video, showing Smith spray-painting the plaque and holding a banner that read “Game Over” before being escorted away by authorities. Smith was heard yelling that the planet cannot be ruined for profit, and bystanders took photos with the defaced insignia. Smith was charged with third-degree criminal tampering and possession of a graffiti instrument, and the incident occurred after an environmental activist group vandalized the famous Wall Street Charging Bull.

The environmental activist group believed to be behind the incidents is associated with Extinction Rebellion, known for overtaking public spaces, causing disruptions, and defacing public buildings. In addition to the incident at Trump Tower, the group was also responsible for spray-painting a Tesla showroom in Lower Manhattan with messages such as “F—k DOGE” and “We do not consent.” The group’s actions have been labeled as dangerous and potentially domestic terrorism, with concerns raised about their impact on public spaces and public safety. The group’s activities are being closely monitored by authorities in response to their acts of vandalism.

The incident at Trump Tower came just a day after the vandalism at the Wall Street Charging Bull, highlighting an escalation in the group’s activities and their willingness to deface iconic landmarks. The group’s message about the planet and the environment being ruined for profit is being highlighted through their acts of vandalism, with a strong belief in the need for action to address climate change. The White House has been contacted for comment on the incident, as concerns grow about the impact of these actions on public safety and security in public spaces.

While the actions of the group have drawn attention to their cause and the issue of climate change, the methods being used, such as vandalism and disruptions, have raised concerns about the effectiveness of their tactics. The group’s association with Extinction Rebellion and their use of public spaces to convey their message has led to criticism and questions about the impact of their actions on public perception and support. The need for peaceful protests and advocacy for climate change action is being emphasized as a more effective way to bring about change and raise awareness on environmental issues.

The incidents of vandalism at Trump Tower and the Wall Street Charging Bull have brought attention to the group behind the actions and their message about the planet and the environment. While their actions have been labeled as dangerous and potentially domestic terrorism, the group continues to use public spaces and landmarks to convey their message about climate change and the need for action. The impact of their actions on public safety and security, as well as public perception of their cause, remains a topic of discussion and concern as authorities monitor their activities and respond to acts of vandalism in public spaces.
