San Diego Comic-Con 2025 may not showcase Marvel, but the excitement remains palpable with sneak peeks for upcoming titles like Tron: Ares and Predator: Badlands. The buzz around new shows and film announcements—including Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gen V, and Welcome to Derry—keeps fans engaged, while key updates are shared throughout the event. Highlights will be compiled daily, capturing the most interesting and bizarre happenings as they unfold over the four days of Comic-Con.

James Gunn pulled crowds into Hall H with a lively presentation for Peacemaker season 2, featuring John Cena in full costume. The trailer, set to Ozzy Osbourne’s "Road to Nowhere," hints at a chaotic season ahead, introducing an interdimensional portal, multiple Peacemakers, and the revenge-driven Rick Flagg Sr. Fans can anticipate the series’ return on HBO Max starting August 21, adding to the comic book-inspired content that is a hallmark of the convention.

In other franchise news, the Star Trek universe expands with Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, aiming for a 2026 release in celebration of the franchise’s 60th anniversary. The series’ premise revolves around young cadets aspiring to join Starfleet and features a notable panel with established performers like Holly Hunter. Meanwhile, the Coyote vs. Acme film, starring John Cena, is finally getting a release after nearly facing cancellation, with its theatrical debut scheduled for August 28, 2026, showcasing a courtroom battle between Wile E. Coyote and Acme Corporation.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, original series creators and the voice cast came together to unveil the upcoming animated sequel series, Avatar: Seven Havens, promising 26 episodes and the introduction of a new Avatar. Additionally, a sneak peek of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 reveals a group venturing into a haunted pizzeria, complete with familiar faces from the Scream franchise, enhancing fan anticipation for the horror film set to release on December 5. Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is also set to return on December 10, introducing new characters and escalating challenges for fans of the fantasy series.

The Twisted Metal series on Peacock is preparing to release its second season with peel-back clips showcasing character dynamics and humor. An edgier portrayal emerges in the new episodes as familiar characters evolve within their chaotic world. Meanwhile, Outlander preps for its eighth season, concluding its historical narrative—an ending that leads into a spinoff titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The evolution of beloved characters and dramatic plot lines ensures viewers remain captivated until the final credits.

New content isn’t limited to long-established franchises; Adult Swim shared news of a new series starring President Curtis from Rick and Morty, and a sneak peek provided thrilling insights into Alien: Earth, with a narrative anchored in familiar territory to long-time fans of the franchise. The dynamic trailers and engaging discussions around shows like Gen V and The Boys reveal exciting new directions for beloved characters and possible future plots. As the event rolls on, expect even more thrilling announcements and glimpses of what’s to come, ensuring Comic-Con remains a centerpiece for pop culture excitement.
