Corey Lewandowski joins Trump campaign as convention adviser

Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, has been brought back into the Trump world as an adviser for the Republican National Convention in July. This move comes after Lewandowski was ousted from a pro-Trump super PAC in 2021 due to allegations of sexual harassment made by a donor. Despite these allegations, Lewandowski struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid a misdemeanor charge related to the incident. As Lewandowski returns to the Trump campaign, he has already been compensated for his role, receiving $20,000 from the Republican National Committee last month, according to a recent filing with the Federal Election Commission.

The news of Lewandowski’s new role was first reported by the National Review, and Lewandowski himself declined to comment on the matter when approached by CNN. His return to the Trump campaign coincides with a broader effort by the campaign to bring in staunch Trump allies to help oversee the delegate and convention process. Paul Manafort, Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman who was later pardoned by the former president, was also hired as an adviser for the convention earlier this year. However, Manafort stepped down from the role earlier this month following media scrutiny and questions over his involvement in the planning process.

Despite the controversies surrounding Lewandowski’s past behavior, his return to the Trump campaign signals a continued reliance on loyal allies to help navigate the upcoming Republican National Convention. The campaign has been looking to fill key roles with individuals who have a proven track record of supporting Trump’s agenda and can help ensure a successful convention. With Lewandowski and other former Trump associates playing prominent roles in the planning process, the campaign is aiming to put together a strong team that can rally support for the former president as he gears up for a potential comeback in national politics.

Lewandowski’s involvement in the convention planning process reflects the Trump campaign’s strategy to leverage experienced political operatives to maximize their chances of success. By bringing in individuals like Lewandowski who have a deep understanding of Trump’s base and messaging strategy, the campaign is looking to build a cohesive team that can effectively execute their vision for the convention. Despite the controversies that have surrounded some of these individuals, the campaign appears determined to forge ahead with their plans and ensure that the convention is a success.

As the Republican National Convention approaches, the Trump campaign is making strategic moves to position themselves for a successful event. By bringing in figures like Corey Lewandowski and Paul Manafort, the campaign is signaling their commitment to mobilizing support for Trump and his agenda. With Lewandowski’s return to the campaign fold, the team is bolstered by a seasoned political operative who can help navigate the complexities of the convention process. As the campaign continues to take shape, the involvement of individuals like Lewandowski underscores the importance of loyalty and experience in Trump’s inner circle as they gear up for a potentially pivotal moment in his political future.
