Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is taking action against the city of Kansas City for revealing the residence of Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker on social media after he gave a commencement speech at a Catholic school. Bailey believes this was an act of retaliation against Butker’s religious beliefs and has requested records and documents related to the city’s social media management. He views this as a violation of Butker’s constitutional freedoms and the Missouri Human Rights Act and is determined to hold those responsible accountable.

Butker, 28, faced backlash for his commencement speech where he made references to female graduates embracing their roles as homemakers, President Biden’s stance on abortion, and the LGBTQ community during Pride month. Bailey supports Butker’s right to freely express his religious beliefs, especially in a Catholic environment like Benedictine College. He is focused on defending individuals who want to express their religious beliefs and ensuring they are protected by constitutional law.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas apologized for the inappropriate social media post revealing Butker’s residence and pledged to review account access to prevent similar incidents in the future. Bailey is concerned that the review could be an attempt to obstruct the attorney general’s investigation and is committed to holding wrongdoers accountable. He believes that Butker may have a legal case against the city and is worried about government being weaponized to violate individual rights.

Bailey is calling for anyone involved in the controversial post to be fired immediately and is demanding records and documents related to the management of the city’s social media account. He believes that the city lacks sufficient controls to prevent government from being used to violate individual rights and wants to ensure accountability in this matter. The mayor’s office has not responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital, and Bailey remains committed to pursuing justice for Butker and others whose rights may have been violated.

Overall, Bailey’s actions in response to the social media post revealing Butker’s residence demonstrate his commitment to protecting individuals’ rights to freely express their religious beliefs. He views the incident as a clear violation of constitutional freedoms and is determined to hold those responsible accountable. His efforts to investigate the city’s social media management and ensure transparency in this matter reflect his dedication to defending individual rights and preventing government from being used to infringe upon those rights.
