Pennsylvania woman accused of attempting to cheat election system by registering deceased individuals, including father, to vote

Jennifer Hill was arrested on felony forgery, public records tampering, and voter registration-related charges in Pennsylvania for allegedly attempting to fraudulently register dead people, including her father, to vote in the 2024 election. The District Attorney, Jack Stollsteimer, stated that Hill used an app to register individuals as a staffer for the New Pennsylvania Project, successfully registering 181 people but having 129 names not go through. Hill was accused of registering deceased individuals, including her late father and another person who had died in 2011 in her current residence. Prosecutors also charged an 84-year-old man named Philip Moss with voting in both Florida and by mail in Delaware County.

The New Pennsylvania Project, where Hill was a staffer, responded to the allegations by stating that they do not provide financial incentives for additional voter registrations and that their employees do not have quotas to meet. They emphasized that their voter registration efforts are nonpartisan and not aligned with any political party or candidate. The group stated that the Pennsylvania Department of State notified them about potential issues with a canvasser, believed to be Hill, and that person was immediately suspended. Despite the allegations, they asserted that the voting rolls and elections are secure and that no fraudulent ballots were cast.

Hill is facing up to 10 counts for each of the four registrations that led to the indictment in Media, where prosecutors are pursuing the case. Delaware County, a Democratic-majority suburb of Philadelphia, was once considered a “swing” county but has shifted leftward in recent years. Vice President Kamala Harris won the county with 61% of the vote, indicating a strong Democratic presence in the area. The accusations against Hill and the charges against Moss highlight concerns about voter fraud and the security of the electoral process, even in areas that traditionally lean in one political direction.

The allegations against Hill and Moss raise questions about the integrity of voter registration processes and potential vulnerabilities in the system. The case underscores the importance of verifying the accuracy of voter registration information and ensuring that only eligible individuals are able to participate in elections. The involvement of deceased individuals in the voter registration process highlights the need for stricter controls and oversight to prevent fraudulent activity and protect the integrity of the electoral system. The legal proceedings against Hill and Moss will likely shed further light on the extent of the alleged voter fraud and any systemic issues that may have enabled it to occur.

The response from the New Pennsylvania Project emphasizes their commitment to nonpartisan voter registration efforts and their dedication to ensuring the security of the electoral process. The group’s assertion that they immediately suspended the individual believed to be involved in fraudulent registrations demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing potential issues and maintaining the integrity of their voter outreach efforts. The organization’s claim that no fraudulent ballots were cast as a result of the alleged actions further underscores their commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral system and preventing voter fraud. The outcome of the legal proceedings and any additional investigations into the case will likely have implications for voter registration practices and the security of elections in Pennsylvania and beyond.
